The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) started on January 21 and revealed some beautiful watches.
Among them, the Piaget Ultra Thin Minute Repeater.
Briefly, the Piaget Emperador Coussin Ultra Thin Minute Repeater is a double record-holder, being both the thinnest minute repeater wristwatch and having the thinnest movement.
This minute repeater is a first for Piaget and completes the firm’s high complication journey, with in-house chronographs, perpetual calendars and tourbillons already in the mix. The thinness of this wristwatch is of course the most notable thing about it, especially in the example of the minute repeater, which like all musical instruments, requires space to project sound. The technical solution here was to make everything as thin or hollow as possible, wherever possible. Indeed, some components of calibre 1290P are barely the width of a human hair, showing off advances in the craft of miniaturization. Six engineers worked on the calibre for three years to get it right.
