This chessboard has been constructed from solid cherry wood and overlain with Bird’s Eye Maple, Madrona and Burr Walnut veneers. As well as using materials suitable for use in the luxury car interiors, the same traditional bookmatching technique is also employed resulting in each square being mirrored exactly on the opposite quarter of the board, an attention to detail that sets Bentley apart.
In order to create the chess pieces the Bentley Styling Team drew inspiration from unique Bentley features such as the GT Speed alloy wheel, the Mulsanne door handles and the Bentley Flying B amongst other influences, in order to create truly original playing pieces. Each playing piece has a leather base which has the Bentley Logo embroidered on to it.
The result of these skills, techniques, materials and handcrafted passion is a chessboard that epitomises the Bentley brand while at the same time reflecting the combination of heritage, tradition and modern technology that makes a modern-day Bentley.
The Chess Board measures 49.5 cm X 49.5 cm. The King playing piece stands at 9.7 cm.
