M. Gerald Genta for Ritz Fine Jewellery, London
POST A COMMENT
M. Gerald Genta is one of the world’s greatest contemporary horologists. Over his long and illustrious career, he has accumulated universal fame for such iconic creations as the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the IWC Ingenieur. His watches are amongst the most coveted and collectible in the world.
In 2007, Ritz Fine Jewellery, London approached Genta with a view to creating a small series of timepieces that combined simple, elegant lines, the best materials and the highest possible level of finish – at the heart of each a movement that would delight even the most knowledgeable and discerning of aficionados. The result is a remarkable feat of watch making skill. Drawing inspiration from no watch that had ever gone before but rather assimilating architectural, cultural and social elements from The Ritz Hotel in London, Genta has created three ranges, each comprising a date model, a chronograph model and a tourbillon model.
Available in a choice of precious metals, the entire collection amounts to just 15 watches, each of which is limited to a numbered edition of one. The dial of each watch has purposely been left blank, free from any form of branding – allowing the collector to personalise the piece (with if desired a motif designed by Genta himself). If the dial is to be personalised, the details of what is required will be carefully considered before a lead time is confirmed. Testimony to Genta’s pride in this extraordinary work, he has for the first time allowed his signature to be engraved on each watch. This self-winding 1905 Chronograph is one of only 15 pieces in the collection. Named after the year in which construction began on hotelier Cesar Ritz's Chateau-style hotel in London's Piccadilly, this cushion-shaped design features an upper case in the form of a 'soft square'. Sapphire crystal with sapphire set winding crown in 18ct white gold (the customer has a choice of fine crocodile coloured straps on a white gold deployment clasp), it is available only through 20ltd.com and is limited to a numbered edition of one.
Specifications:
The watch indicates: -
• Hours – hour hand
• Minutes – minute hand
• Chronograph – chronograph hand
The chronograph is equipped with 3 counters:
• Seconds counter
• Minutes counter (30 minutes)
• Hours counter (12 hours)
The watch has 2 push-buttons:
• Top push-button – to start & stop the chronograph
• Bottom push-button – to reset the counters
Technical Specifications:
• Vibrations/hour – 28,800 (4 Hz)
• Jewels – 27 rubies
• Movement operating range when fully wound – over 46 hours
• Automatic winding in both directions
• Oscillating weight segment – 21 carat gold
• Swing wheel stops when time is being adjusted
ETA movement, with chronograph dials. The movement is automatic with a power reserve of 46 hours when fully wound. The regulation tolerance is 15 seconds.Labels: Ritz Fine Jewellery, Watch

Dior Homme Chiffre Rouge I03
POST A COMMENT
Following the fabulous I02 version in white gold, Dior Homme has unveiled the new Chiffre Rouge I03 in brushed gold, a new chronograph that further shakes up the codes of luxury watches.
Combining exceptional luxury and flawless performance, the Chiffre Rouge I03 is a noble celebration of the Dior universe.
A true marvel of technical prowess, the watch boasts features that will enthrall novices and collectors alike.
The Chiffre Rouge I03 is made of the most precious materials, melding the gentle softness of brushed gold with transparent sapphires.
Set with diamonds on the dial and winding mechanism, this unique watch is a pure expression of timeless luxury.
The "Irréductible" caliber measures time to 1/10th of a second, guaranteeing unwavering reliability and precision. The automatic chronograph has been produced in a limited edition by the celebrated Manufacture Zenith and is certified COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).
The innovative asymmetric design of the case puts all the controls on the right side.
The fluid form - materialized by the shape of a pebble - is enhanced by smoothed angles and a convex glass, making the timepiece a sublimely beautiful object.
The ultra-flexible band is a natural extension of the curved lines to harmoniously envelop the wrist.
The Chiffre Rouge I03 subtly integrates Dior Homme codes, including the "cuts" on the band and clasp. A solitary diamond is hidden on the back side of the case, like an intimate, secret and exclusive signature.
Preciously elegant and resolutely contemporary, the new Chiffre Rouge by Dior Homme is a new classic in sophisticated watches for men.Labels: Dior, Dior Homme, Mens, Watch

Jaeger-LeCoultre official Watch Partner of Aston Martin Racing
POST A COMMENT
Bound together for several years in a similar spirit of innovation and an ongoing quest for perfection, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Aston Martin recently extended their relationship, Jaeger-LeCoultre becoming the official Watch Partner of Aston Martin Racing within a three year technical partnership. This association between two worlds with shared values reinforced the strong ties between fine watchmaking and fine mechanical engineering. Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to announce that Aston Martin Racing has won the Catalunya 1000 kilometres race, held on April 5th, in Barcelona (Spain). The 007 car, driven by Jan Charouz (CZ), Tomas Enge (CZ) and Stefan Mücke (DE) finished first after a flawless debut run. Car 009, crewed by Harold Primat (CH), Miguel Ramos (PT) and Darren Turner (GB), ran in the top three until the final 40 minutes of the race, when a spin put the crew out of contention.
In June 2009, Aston Martin will once again be taking part in the most legendary of all endurance races at the Le Mans 24 Hours with the firm intention of winning the legendary blue and orange Gulf trophy in this 50th anniversary year of the previous historical exploit. Jaeger-LeCoultre, which has been partnering the prestigious British automobile manufacturer since 2004, will present a new AMVOX Racing model to mark this auspicious occasion.Labels: Aston Martin Racing, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Watch

The new Master Grande Tradition line from Jaeger-LeCoultre
POST A COMMENT
In 2009, the Grande Maison in the Vallée de Joux is unveiling some extraordinary timepieces embodying an original symbiosis between the technological breakthroughs of the 21st century and a tribute paid to the finest watchmaking traditions. The design and creation of such a masterpiece naturally depends on the authentic mastery of the intricacies of fine watchmaking, a mastery that Jaeger-LeCoultre has been cultivating for 176 years. The new line is distinguished by distinctive aesthetics and the joint presence on each model of two complications interpreted in a manner that is at once historical and innovative. The two first watch creations in the Master Grande Tradition collection feature combinations of functions that are new to the Manufacture: on the one hand, the first tourbillon associated with a perpetual calendar; and on the other, the first minute repeater with a two-week power reserve allied with a regulator display. Moreover, this new line will welcome the first ever silicon escapement from the Grande Maison, stemming from the research undertaken in the Jaeger-LeCoultre laboratories and aiming to further enhance the performances of this complicated timepiece. This major innovation will initially enrich the yellow gold limited editions only. The undeniable gain in precision will be certified by a new “1000 Hours Chrono” label developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre.Labels: Jaeger-LeCoultre, Watch
Master Compressor Diving Navy SEALs
POST A COMMENT
Jaeger-LeCoultre is constantly conferring with experts, such as snorkelling record holder Patrick Musimu, about the relevance of its latest innovations. The Manufacture has signed a partnership with the United States Navy SEALs, the Navy’s elite unit of combat swimmers. To mark this agreement dedicated to challenging achievements, the Master Compressor Diving line is adding three limited series having a shot-peened ceramic bezel and engraved with the Navy SEALs emblem. The eagle brandishing a trident in its talons is a symbol of excellence for these extraordinary timepieces, the Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy SEALs, the Master Compressor Diving Chronograph GMT Navy SEALs and the iconic Master Compressor Diving Pro Geographic Navy SEALs.Labels: Jaeger-LeCoultre, Luxury, Technology, Watch
Master Compressor Diving GMT Lady Céramique
POST A COMMENT
Right from the time of their introduction in 2007, the Master Compressor Diving Lady watches signalled the end of the dilemma between performance and refinement. Active, sporty ladies can now adorn their wrist with a professional and highly reliable instrument, while not renouncing nothing of their taste for elegance. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ladies’ marineinspired line is now reinforcing the technical side of its nature by appearing clad in a new black ceramic case. Slightly larger and subtly slenderer, it accentuates the unique design of the Master Compressor Diving Lady watches. The designers of the Manufacture have teamed this innovative material with a black dial, the first in the collection, featuring a delicately contrasting effect that enhances the aesthetic equilibrium and the readability of the indications. The dial details are lit up by the presence of 16 diamonds set on the diving bezel. This harmony between form and function affirms the essential values of the diving world according to Jaeger-LeCoultre: the fascination of beauty and the assurance of peerless reliability.Labels: Jaeger-LeCoultre, Watch
Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates the union of fine
POST A COMMENT
The oldest and most delicate of the decorative arts no longer hold any secrets for the Grande Maison in the Vallée de Joux. Enamelling, engraving and gem-setting are a set of virtuoso crafts that it associates at will in its horological and artistic creations. A splendid embodiment of the love of fine details that has always characterised Jaeger-LeCoultre, the art of miniature enamel painting dedicates its absolute beauty to highlighting the watchmaking feats of the Manufacture – one of the rare brands to enhance its wristwatches with the full range of traditional fine watchmaking embellishments. In 2009, the artists of the Manufacture, who cultivate very special ties with this exquisitely refined ornamental technique, wished to present a full-fledged anthology of their talent by offering two exceptional series illustrating two traditional enamel techniques – grand feu and champlevé enamelling – on two famous timepieces in the Jaeger-LeCoultre collection: the Master Minute Repeater and the Master Grand TourbillonLabels: Jaeger-LeCoultre, Watch
Art in enamel with Jaeger-LeCoultre: World exclusive personalization
POST A COMMENT
In an unprecedented challenge, Jaeger-LeCoultre has made in enamel one of the most exclusive piece of art on the case of a Reverso watch, which can be worn on the owner wrist as part of a watch!! The swivel case of the reverso allowed its owner to decorate it and gives him the absolute assurance of possessing the most complete artistically decorated work one could imagine.
A private British art collector who owns an incredibly valuable Lord Leighton original oil painting called ‘Pavonia’ wanted to personalize his Jaeger-LeCoultre reverso watch. This piece of art, one of his most precious paintings, as part of his private collection, is rarely seen in public. (The last time was at the Royal Academy in celebration of Lord Leighton’s work over a decade ago.) He asked to the Manufacture if it was possible to have a duplicate of the painting recreated on the case of his favorite watch with an Enamel.
This is an incredibly challenging task with only a handful of artisans in the world being able to create such a feat. It took 120 hours for our master enamellers to complete it. In order to celebrate this truly unique item’s arrival the new owner has agreed to let exhibit both the watch and the original Painting in the George Tarratt show room in Leicester for one week in June.
With his enamel’s specialists, Jaeger-LeCoultre is nowadays one of the rare watches

Jaquet Droz/Mechanical Poetry
POST A COMMENT
This book explains why experts around the world seek out Jaquet Droz's rare and unique objects.
It all started with one of the greatest watchmakers of the eighteenth century. Pierre Jacquet Droz, who opened his studio in 1738 at La Chaux-de-Fonds and made history with his richly enameled musical watches and his android automata, which were popular in all the European courts. Today, with more than a dozen different models issued in limited editions, Jaquet Droz mostly captivates collectors in search of unique timepieces. Remaining loyal to a mechanical tradition and to the spirit of invention that filled its predecessors, the brand has carried on its reputation, attracting more and more recognition from the watch world.Labels: Books, Jaquet Droz, Luxury, Read, Watch
