POST A COMMENT
Limited Edition Experiences, a program that brings together the world’s most innovative fashion houses to create retail experiences of unique inventiveness will launch in the Miami Design District on November 30th for a limited time. The program will gather together some of the world’s most sought-after designers, including Fendi; Proenza Schouler; Duncan Quinn; Jessica Trosman; Christian Dior Homme; L’Eclaireur; Stubbs and Wootton; Pharrell William’s Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream; Katherine Fleming; Maia N.; Cynthia Rowley; Neon Monster; and others, to present limited edition merchandise as well as radically innovative programming and environments that reflect their creative viewpoints. In addition, Gucci will launch the second installment of ICON-TEMPORARY, a flash sneaker store that will debut later this month in New York. For this unique retail experience, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with award-winning musical artist Mark Ronson on the design of a limited edition collection of Gucci Ronson sneakers. After Miami, Gucci ICON-TEMPORARY will move on to London and Tokyo. A combination of individual free-standing stores of a limited duration (in some cases, through April 2010); unique cultural programming; public lectures by designers at DASH (Design and Architectural Senior High School); and a multi-brand environment, the F Factory; Limited Edition Experiences will re-invigorate the shopping experience. Limited Edition Experiences will also include programming and events by permanent Miami Design District businesses, including Marni, Tomas Maier, Y3, En Avance and Christian Louboutin (opening November 2009); design companies Vitra, Driade, Luminaire, Poliform, Holly Hunt and Poltrona Frau and others; and the most lauded restaurants in Miami, among them Senora Martinez, Michael’s Genuine and Fratelli Lyon. The program was created for Dacra, the owner of more than 80% of the 18-square block Miami Design District, by Susan Ainsworth of Ainsworth Associates.
The program will launch on November 30th, the day preceding the opening of Design Miami/, the pre-eminent forum for the presentation of limited edition and collectible design, which attracts more than 20,000 collectors to the Miami Design District throughout the first week of December, and will continue through the spring of 2010.Labels: Travel

3rd Mumm Explorer Experience
POST A COMMENT
“G.H.Mumm partnered with renowned Chef Mauro Colagreco to create a gastronomic Dinner on a sand bank on July, 14th 2009.
G.H Mumm chose the Great Barrier Reef, and asked Chef Mauro Colagreco to prepare a gastronomic lunch in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on a pristine sandbank on the Great Barrier Reef. Magnifying these resources in their natural setting was the challenge that Mauro Colagreco had to rise to.
The main new feature in this third Mumm Explorer Experience was that G.H Mumm announced ten lucky winners would have the exclusive opportunity to participate in the fourth Mumm Explore experience, slated for July 2010 in the Gobi desert – provided they win the contest that this Maison de Champagne will be running soon.”

IF-Mode
POST A COMMENT
IF-Mode by industrial designer Mark Sanders for AREAWARE is available for purchase in the USA. The IF-Mode folds in about 2 seconds
The clean and striking IF Mode is aimed at commuters of the mobile generation who, until now, may have not considered cycling or folding bikes to be an option. IF Mode is a unique product that offers a new image for people who previously thought bikes were for enthusiasts only.
IF Mode avoids oily chains, complex tube with hidden dirt traps and the clutter of traditional bicycle features. It can be used by city commuters who do not want to change their appearance into ‘bicycle warriors’ and may use public transport or their car for some of the journey. IF Mode looks at home folded up on a smart subway train or in an office, just like a sleek mp3 player or other well designed accessory in your life. It also performs on the street like any lightweight well balanced full size bike.

Mehrzeller
POST A COMMENT
“Mehrzeller” is a new multicellular caravan. Using the online Configurator, every user sets up a design that is unique, their own layout that they can identify with. The configuration is generated by a computer using the customer’s inputs, and then the final design is done by parameters from the architects to yield an attractive and practicable result. The caravans are produced using the principles of “mass customization”: this allows both the individual wishes of the customer to be accommodated while producing the caravan with series methods.Labels: Luxury, Mehrzeller, Travel

Cooper Square Hotel
POST A COMMENT
Cooper Square Hotel is a new modern glass and steel New York City hotel located on Manhattan's Bowery in the heart of downtown. The new construction was designed by Carlos Zapata Studio. Noted Italian designer Antonio Citterio designed the interiors and furnishings are by B & B Italia. The Italian design motif extends to the guest rooms where the beds are outfitted with 400-count Italian Anichini-brand linens and comforters and the baths are tiled with Italian glass mosaics. Carlos Zapata says the inspiration for the building was a face starting small at the neck and widening upwards, with the intention of giving the building a very distinctive personality.
The 21-storey, 145-room hotel, dubbed “Downtown Luxury” by its owner/developer, has an open plan with a modern European feel. The main public spaces include a library with a bar and fireplace, an intimate screening room, and a destination restaurant, the first in New York for celebrated Los Angeles-based chef Govind Armstrong. The hotel’s interior organization and circulation plan is inspired by the small courtyards of the East village. There are several small intimate spaces on the back of the building and one can access the second floor bar without having to go into the lobby, forming a continuous loop between the many intimate spaces inside and outside the building.Labels: Cooper Square Hotel, Luxury, Travel

floating hotel in Sweden
POST A COMMENT
In October 2008, Sweden’s first floating hotel opened alongside the Salt & Sill restaurant. The hotel is meeting and conference venue with 46 beds, and is open all year round. At the hotel, guests can work and socialise in an inspiring environment, enjoy good food and drink, and then fall asleep to the sound of lapping waves. Despite the serene setting, there is plenty of opportunity for exciting and fun activities, with focus on the sea or food & drink. The staff members are professional and service-minded and do their outmost to look after – not the customer – but the individual person. Salt & Sill is a hotel and meeting place with a cosy, personal atmosphere, and a style characterised by modern Scandinavian simplicity.

Louis Vuitton celebrates 10th anniversary of City Guides
POST A COMMENT
For ten years Louis Vuitton has been capturing the spirit of cities and sharing its love of travel with the City Guides. Updated and enriched each year, the guides delight leisure travelers, nomadic business visitors and indeed the residents of the cities explored.
There are thousands of addresses, from reliable favorites to new locations, revealing the very soul of the city. For the new edition, the City Guide features a fresh look, a revamped format and new sections.
To capture the spirit of the cities in the 2009 City Guide series, Louis Vuitton calls on journalists, writers and artists. What’s more, 30 famous figures have been invited to offer their personal takes on the cities they love.
Actress Monica Belluci discloses her addresses in Rome, the sommelier Georges dos Santos reveals a few secrets of Lyonnais gastronomy, and opera singer Angela Gheorghiu recounts her trips back and forth to Bucharest.
For the first time, Mumbai, Miami, New York, Paris and Tokyo are available in individual volumes. The iconic European collection takes us to 32 cities, including six new destinations: Bucharest, Glasgow, Lausanne, Palermo, Manchester and Saint-Tropez. There are also maps and three audio walks that can be downloaded in MP3 format from www.louisvuittonsoundwalk.com for a unique discovery of three Chinese cities.
In a subtle reference to Louis Vuitton’s heritage, the design of the 2009 City Guides is inspired by the vintage luggage labels that used to be affixed to Louis Vuitton trunks, evoking the timeless theme of travel.Labels: City Guide 2009, Louis Vuitton, Travel

Urbane Nomads
POST A COMMENT
Urbane Nomads is, a travel agency based in Singapore. The agency bills themselves as travel mixologists, offering unique destinations, pairing it with 'select accommodation and unusual travel modes.'
Some of the tours come 2009 include a private jet tour covering Golden Triangle Thailand and Myanmar, before moving on to Putao, a remote north-eastern state in Myanmar that is notoriously difficult to get to due to the erratic flight schedule.
Putao is at the foot of the Himalayas, where the lush jungles of Myanmar meet with the climate and mountainscapes of the Himalayas. What this results in is a rich biodiversity that includes red pandas and clouded leopards. Home here too, are many tribes including the Lisu, Rawang and Naga as well as the world's only Mongoloid pygmies.
Guests will be staying in a luxury resort designed by Jean Michel Gathy of
Aman Resorts' fame.
Come July '09, there will be the Shandur Polo festival(the site of the
highest polo grounds in the world) in Pakistan. Guests will be travelling
around Kafiristan(where fairy-worshipping, black robed tribes in
elaborate head dresses with distinctive features and believed to be the
descendants of Alexander the Great are to be found), the photoshopped
landscapes of Chitral and Hunza, the most likely contender for the
original Shangri-la.

SECOND MUMM EXPLORER EXPERIENCE: 7 extreme dinners
POST A COMMENT
After their first expedition to Greenland in July 2008 and a dinner orchestrated by two-star chef Sylvestre Wahid on an iceberg adrift in the middle of the Sermilik fjord, the House of G.H. MUMM and adventurer Mike Horn are off again, this time to Antarctica alongside three Michelin-star Gérard Boyer, following in the wake of Captain Charcot, whose expedition the House backed a century earlier. Iceberg, Charcot Bay, in the north of the Antarctic peninsula: on 27 October 2008, G.H. MUMM and South African adventurer Mike Horn celebrated the beauty of the planet at the very spot where, on 14 July 1904, Captain Charcot’s crew celebrated their first steps taken on the white continent by cracking open a bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge. A few hours earlier, three-star Chef Gérard Boyer, who ran the restaurant of the Château les Crayères for nearly 20 years, gave a gourmet dinner as a tribute to that page in the house’s history. In the centre of the volcano on Deception Island, south of the Shetlands, he prepared the following menu featuring a South African variation on the truffle and caviar themes.

The Setai is an intimate, serene oceanfront resort in the heart of South Beach.
Its design vision artfully combines the rich architectural history of the neighborhood and its cultural diversity with the International Art Deco movement, particularly its influence in Asia. Infused with natural materials, space and light, The Setai bears the unmistakable imprint of legendary hotelier Adrian Zecha.
The Art Deco landmark building was originally built between 1936 – 1938 as the famed Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel. Next to it is our 40-story glass tower that surpasses all around it in elevation, views and design.

POST A COMMENT
citizenM hotel has won the Most Innovative Hotel award at the European Hotel Design Awards 2008. The European Hotel Design Awards, presented by Sleeper Magazine is the premier celebration of outstanding innovations in the hospitality industry and hotel design in Europe.
"This was perhaps the most hotly contested decision I have seen the judging panel have to make in the six years I have been involved in these awards. But I think it is fair to say that the eventual winner is a hotel that stood out from the competition in all aspects of its conception. Not just it's design and architecture, but also its use of technology, it's marketing, its future development potential and most importantly, the seamless integration of all these into a product that offers the guest a rewarding experience. The winning project was acknowledged by the panel to be a radically new hotel concept that will have considerable influence on others in the industry for years to come." Says Matt Turner, editor in chief Sleeper Magazine.
The Dutch hotel group citizenM hotels won the grand prize: The European Hotel Design Award of the Year
and three awards in the categories:
THE INNOVATION AWARD
"The judges looked at the added value for the guest, the† concept design, various use within the hotel, the building, the property, guest experience, use of information database, to check out and unanimously award the hotel who has accomplished to achieve this within all aspects of a hotel." Ahmed Akudi, International Projects Director, Grohe AG
THE TECHNOLOGY AWARD

Ducati North America have announced the latest additions to its iconic Monster line of “naked” sport bikes, the Monster 1100 and 1100 S models.
The arrival of the new Monster 1100 and 1100 S models increases the displacement of the redesigned Monster family, which defines the naked motorcycle and has been staking its claim worldwide as the new icon of Italian excellence.
The 'less-is-more' philosophy behind all Monsters underlines Ducati's never-ending pursuit of genuinely compact, high performance motorcycles; but these new models have succeeded in being even more 'pared down' than their predecessors. The Monster 1100 weighs only 371 lbs (369 lbs for the S version), making it by far the lightest bike in its category.
The new Monster 1100 design perfectly balances sports performance, riding pleasure and stunning looks. With its single-sided aluminum swingarm, high-spec componentry, race-oriented chassis and 15 years of evolution, the Monster 1100 now takes its place at the head of the Monster family.
The Monster 1100 S is a pure concentrate of light weight, power, design and exclusivity. The 'S' features fully adjustable 43mm titanium nitride coated Ohlins forks and progressive Ohlins rear shock absorber with adjustable pre-load and return damping. Carbon fiber cam belt covers, silencer guards and front fender reduce weight by a further 2.2 lbs. The distinctive gold five spoke wheels of the Monster 1100 S give it the elegant style and same sporting look as historical Ducati race bikes.
Both versions of the new Monster 1100 come with removable single seat covers and neat micro-bikini fairings; and are powered by the charismatic two-valve 1100cc Desmodromic twin-cylinder engine that boasts 95hp at 7500rpm and an impressive 79.5 lb/ft of torque at 6000rpm.
The base selling price for the Monster 1100 is $11,995.Labels: DUCATI MONSTER 1100, Luxury, Motoring, Travel

As the internationally acclaimed chef of the French Laundry, Thomas Keller has earned a reputation as a perfectionist. At Per Se diners benefit from the first taste--miniature sesame cones topped with a scoop of buttery salmon tartare, which arrive as a gift from the kitchen--to the last, gracious nibbles of homemade truffles. In between, dishes like "liver and onions," buttery, tender ramps with lush duck liver pâté; Keller's signature "oysters and pearls" made with tapioca, just-warm oysters, sweet butter and a wealth of caviar; and the genius combination of foie gras, peach jelly and--unexpectedly--young cilantro leaves, sweep diners off their feet.
