Limited Edition Experiences

Limited Edition Experiences, a program that brings together the world’s most innovative fashion houses to create retail experiences of unique inventiveness will launch in the Miami Design District on November 30th for a limited time. The program will gather together some of the world’s most sought-after designers, including Fendi; Proenza Schouler; Duncan Quinn; Jessica Trosman; Christian Dior Homme; L’Eclaireur; Stubbs and Wootton; Pharrell William’s Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream; Katherine Fleming; Maia N.; Cynthia Rowley; Neon Monster; and others, to present limited edition merchandise as well as radically innovative programming and environments that reflect their creative viewpoints. In addition, Gucci will launch the second installment of ICON-TEMPORARY, a flash sneaker store that will debut later this month in New York. For this unique retail experience, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with award-winning musical artist Mark Ronson on the design of a limited edition collection of Gucci Ronson sneakers. After Miami, Gucci ICON-TEMPORARY will move on to London and Tokyo. A combination of individual free-standing stores of a limited duration (in some cases, through April 2010); unique cultural programming; public lectures by designers at DASH (Design and Architectural Senior High School); and a multi-brand environment, the F Factory; Limited Edition Experiences will re-invigorate the shopping experience. Limited Edition Experiences will also include programming and events by permanent Miami Design District businesses, including Marni, Tomas Maier, Y3, En Avance and Christian Louboutin (opening November 2009); design companies Vitra, Driade, Luminaire, Poliform, Holly Hunt and Poltrona Frau and others; and the most lauded restaurants in Miami, among them Senora Martinez, Michael’s Genuine and Fratelli Lyon. The program was created for Dacra, the owner of more than 80% of the 18-square block Miami Design District, by Susan Ainsworth of Ainsworth Associates.

The program will launch on November 30th, the day preceding the opening of Design Miami/, the pre-eminent forum for the presentation of limited edition and collectible design, which attracts more than 20,000 collectors to the Miami Design District throughout the first week of December, and will continue through the spring of 2010.

G.H Mumm chose the Great Barrier Reef, and asked Chef Mauro Colagreco to prepare a gastronomic lunch in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on a pristine sandbank on the Great Barrier Reef. Magnifying these resources in their natural setting was the challenge that Mauro Colagreco had to rise to.

Mehrzeller

“Mehrzeller” is a new multicellular caravan. Using the online Configurator, every user sets up a design that is unique, their own layout that they can identify with. The configuration is generated by a computer using the customer’s inputs, and then the final design is done by parameters from the architects to yield an attractive and practicable result. The caravans are produced using the principles of “mass customization”: this allows both the individual wishes of the customer to be accommodated while producing the caravan with series methods.

Cooper Square Hotel

Cooper Square Hotel is a new modern glass and steel New York City hotel located on Manhattan's Bowery in the heart of downtown. The new construction was designed by Carlos Zapata Studio. Noted Italian designer Antonio Citterio designed the interiors and furnishings are by B & B Italia. The Italian design motif extends to the guest rooms where the beds are outfitted with 400-count Italian Anichini-brand linens and comforters and the baths are tiled with Italian glass mosaics. Carlos Zapata says the inspiration for the building was a face starting small at the neck and widening upwards, with the intention of giving the building a very distinctive personality.

The 21-storey, 145-room hotel, dubbed “Downtown Luxury” by its owner/developer, has an open plan with a modern European feel. The main public spaces include a library with a bar and fireplace, an intimate screening room, and a destination restaurant, the first in New York for celebrated Los Angeles-based chef Govind Armstrong. The hotel’s interior organization and circulation plan is inspired by the small courtyards of the East village. There are several small intimate spaces on the back of the building and one can access the second floor bar without having to go into the lobby, forming a continuous loop between the many intimate spaces inside and outside the building.

Louis Vuitton celebrates 10th anniversary of City Guides

Urbane Nomads

Urbane Nomads is, a travel agency based in Singapore. The agency bills themselves as travel mixologists, offering unique destinations, pairing it with 'select accommodation and unusual travel modes.'

Some of the tours come 2009 include a private jet tour covering Golden Triangle Thailand and Myanmar, before moving on to Putao, a remote north-eastern state in Myanmar that is notoriously difficult to get to due to the erratic flight schedule.

Putao is at the foot of the Himalayas, where the lush jungles of Myanmar meet with the climate and mountainscapes of the Himalayas. What this results in is a rich biodiversity that includes red pandas and clouded leopards. Home here too, are many tribes including the Lisu, Rawang and Naga as well as the world's only Mongoloid pygmies.

SECOND MUMM EXPLORER EXPERIENCE: 7 extreme dinners

After their first expedition to Greenland in July 2008 and a dinner orchestrated by two-star chef Sylvestre Wahid on an iceberg adrift in the middle of the Sermilik fjord, the House of G.H. MUMM and adventurer Mike Horn are off again, this time to Antarctica alongside three Michelin-star Gérard Boyer, following in the wake of Captain Charcot, whose expedition the House backed a century earlier. Iceberg, Charcot Bay, in the north of the Antarctic peninsula: on 27 October 2008, G.H. MUMM and South African adventurer Mike Horn celebrated the beauty of the planet at the very spot where, on 14 July 1904, Captain Charcot’s crew celebrated their first steps taken on the white continent by cracking open a bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge. A few hours earlier, three-star Chef Gérard Boyer, who ran the restaurant of the Château les Crayères for nearly 20 years, gave a gourmet dinner as a tribute to that page in the house’s history. In the centre of the volcano on Deception Island, south of the Shetlands, he prepared the following menu featuring a South African variation on the truffle and caviar themes.

Bombardier’s Learjet 85 is powered by twin Pratt & Whitney PW307B engines with a range of five thousand five hundred kilometers and a top speed of Mach 0.82. It is the first Learjet to feature an all composite body which makes it more fuel efficient and gives it its large range. Deliveries are expected to start in early 2011.

DUCATI MONSTER 1100

Ducati North America have announced the latest additions to its iconic Monster line of “naked” sport bikes, the Monster 1100 and 1100 S models.

The arrival of the new Monster 1100 and 1100 S models increases the displacement of the redesigned Monster family, which defines the naked motorcycle and has been staking its claim worldwide as the new icon of Italian excellence.

The 'less-is-more' philosophy behind all Monsters underlines Ducati's never-ending pursuit of genuinely compact, high performance motorcycles; but these new models have succeeded in being even more 'pared down' than their predecessors. The Monster 1100 weighs only 371 lbs (369 lbs for the S version), making it by far the lightest bike in its category.

The new Monster 1100 design perfectly balances sports performance, riding pleasure and stunning looks. With its single-sided aluminum swingarm, high-spec componentry, race-oriented chassis and 15 years of evolution, the Monster 1100 now takes its place at the head of the Monster family.

The Monster 1100 S is a pure concentrate of light weight, power, design and exclusivity. The 'S' features fully adjustable 43mm titanium nitride coated Ohlins forks and progressive Ohlins rear shock absorber with adjustable pre-load and return damping. Carbon fiber cam belt covers, silencer guards and front fender reduce weight by a further 2.2 lbs. The distinctive gold five spoke wheels of the Monster 1100 S give it the elegant style and same sporting look as historical Ducati race bikes.

Both versions of the new Monster 1100 come with removable single seat covers and neat micro-bikini fairings; and are powered by the charismatic two-valve 1100cc Desmodromic twin-cylinder engine that boasts 95hp at 7500rpm and an impressive 79.5 lb/ft of torque at 6000rpm.

The base selling price for the Monster 1100 is $11,995.

jaguar bike by Lee J. Rowland

Designer Lee J. Rowland has unveiled a gorgeous new bike in collaboration with Barend Hemmes. The jaguar bike comes with a number plate “CAT 1” and also features the jaguar cat logo. The bike runs on a 1200cc Buell 97 S3 Thunderbolt engine and both the air intake and exhaust system have been engineered to suit the cat profile.

The fiberglass finish in high gloss polyuerethane lacquer is combined with a seat covered by Stingray for the super deluxe look. The cost of the jaguar bike is £290,000, which includes the cherished number plate as well.

Jet Republic Launches in Europe

Jet Republic has acquired 110 Bombardier Learjet 60XRs - 25 orders and 85 options valued at $1.5 billion - which it claims to be the largest single business jet order in European aircraft history. The company is also considering adding new aircraft types to its fleet later date.

"The Jet card will be offered from launch at a price of €130,000 ($190,000) for 25 hours of flying time," says Jet Republic chief executive Jonathan Breeze. The company has secured agreements with 30 business aircraft operators throughout Europe - including ExecuJet and Tag Aviation - to provide charter for its Jet Card customers.

London's MayFair Hotel is "selling" one of its Signature Suites for an entire year. For $585,000, you'll have full access to the suite for 365 days, compared with the nightly rate of $5,200. (This is a 60% discount.) The one-bedroom suite includes a Harrison & Gil hand-carved headboard in the bedroom and an Italian marble bathroom with a limestone egg bath. JetSuite

JetSuite, founded by Alex Wilcox, one of the founding team members at JetBlue Airways pays private jet owners $25,000 per month to charter their aircrafts out to others during any downtime , while guaranteeing that owners can fly their planes whenever they want.

JetSuite has agreed to purchase 50 Embraer Phenom 100 very light jets on firm order and an additional 50 Phenom aircraft family options. With the 100 jet aircraft order, JetSuite is both the largest U.S. customer for the Embraer jet and the only operator currently planning to serve the West Coast with it once it obtains the necessary government approvals.
