Bontoni Bespoke Shoes

Bontoni is a high-end line of bespoke Italian men's shoes. The third generation Italian shoemaking company was formally launched in 2004. Bontoni ready-made shoes are available in the U.S. at BERGDORF GOODMAN MEN, WILKES BASHFORD, STANLEY KORSHAK, LAWRENCE COVELL and MARIO'S to name a few. In Italy, shoes are sold directly to customers (made-to-measure) rather than through retailers. The ready-made shoes cost between $1,150 and $2,500 a pair depending upon the construction. The bespoke shoes start at $4,500 and can go up to $12,000.

In their five-person bottega in Montegranaro, Marche, Bontoni hand-crafts fewer than 10 pairs a day. Each ready-made pair is hand colored and takes about 13 weeks to complete. The shoes draw a lot of our inspiration from Italy's iconic 1950's jet-set era. They are distinguished both by their timeless Italian elegance, innovative styling and unique hand painted colorings.

Briton Antonio Berardi £1,800 Heels

Briton Antonio Berardi has launched a pair of £1,800 Heels without heels. They are available in gold , black or silver snakeskin. Celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow and Uma Thurman have picked up black patent version valued at £1,100 plus.

Lincolnshire-born Berardi, 39, said he was inspired by Latin American music and 1980s post-modernism, adding: "When you walk, it is almost on tiptoe. You look really dainty."

A spokesman for his Paris-based fashion house said: "The shoe has a bigger platform sole which stretches back further than normal and gives support under the arch of the foot."

Christian Louboutin, 43, has upped his luxury profile even higher by quietly opening a made-to-measure salon on a courtyard across the street from his rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau headquarters.

“I was scared,” Louboutin tells W Magazine. “At first I thought, What if I don’t have any clients?”

In the past six months, 70 of Louboutin’s most faithful regulars—Sofia Coppola, Zoe Cassavetes, Arielle Dombasle, Liliane Bettencourt and Nobel laureate Toni Morrison among them—have tried the new service. “This is a world of standardization,” he says. “So when a woman comes to me with a wish, it’s exciting to be able to realize it. To fulfill a woman’s precise desire—that is the ultimate luxury.”
