    Schooren des Alpes

    POST A COMMENT

Schooren des Alpes is a 21st-century take on the Tyrolean ski lodge - a bold departure from the traditional ski chalets. Nestled into the pristine Tyrolean paradise Kappl, 4 kilometres from Ischgl, Schooren des Alpes is uncompromisingly modern, but its architecture complements the magnificent scenery spectacularly. Only 12 sleek and ultra-modern mountain homes are available for sale - this is limited edition Alpine living at its best.

The serene setting also provides a stunning backdrop for the 330m² Wellness Spa with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, Hammam, sauna and pool lounge facilities. Underground parking, ski/snowboard storage and additional private storage areas for wine or fine art collections ensure Schooren des Alpes will remain the benchmark for luxury lifestyle ski properties for years to come.

The residences will be synonymous with luxury and fine living, offering stylish living spaces ranging from 135 to 261m². Each residence will be completely unique and bespoke for each buyer.

Schooren des Alpes is so beautifully functional and quietly inspiring that it's hard to believe its close proximity to Ischgl, rated Europe’s best holiday resort playground, and the overabundance of year round indoor and outdoor activities the region offers.

Ischgl is just 80 minutes from Innsbruck, at altitude of 1,400m. With 235km of slopes and more than 40 top modern lifts, the resort is one of the largest ski areas in the Alps. With 90% of the skiing between 2,000m and 2,872m, this snow-sure resort has guaranteed skiing from the end of November to the beginning of May. The Kappl lift will be connected to St. Anton by winter 2011, creating one of the world's most amazing ski areas, directly accessible from Schooren des Alpes

This is a rare opportunity to buy a luxury ski residence in the Tyrol.

Schooren des Alpes is mixing contemporary architecture, frosted Alpine peaks and luxury amenities with altitude.

    Prices from €780.000

    POST A COMMENT

The enveloping design is exalted by the free play of folds that the leather creates across all of the internal part of the backrest, making it pleasantly undulating. The precious contrasting stitching along the seams and on the external surfaces of the upholstery creates a refined elegance.

The frame of the backrest and seat is in steel with polyurethane foam padding, moulded, expanded and shaped with polyester wadding in the zones where more comfort is needed.

Springiness is obtained from elastic belts and the base is made up of four feet in cast aluminium and tubular steel frame with a gunmetal grey finishing. The upholstery of the shell is in Pelle Frau leather

    Marco Zito Flap Lamp

    POST A COMMENT

Flap appears at first like a piece of contemporary art with its irregular geometric lines, decorating the walls in an interplay of light and shade.

The light source is formed by Flap's two overlaid metal surfaces which, thanks to a slight bend and the irregular overlay, provide a strong personality to a lamp of striking simplicity. When lit, the piece creates a new visual perception as there appear to be four surfaces. This is due to the effect the backlit shadows create on the different surfaces of the lamp and projected onto the wall.

Flap is an ideal element for wall compositions, and when used in multiples it can create a unique and unusual light sculpture suitable for both residential and contract environments. It is available in three sizes, each one characterised by the special proportions that make every variation of Flap unique.

    Crinolina Lamp

    POST A COMMENT

Crinolina plays with the expressive abstraction of the hooped skirt fashion from centuries long passed eventually translated into a unique and modern lighting design by Susanne Philippson. The characteristic of the lamp is its outer lampshade which plays with carefully balanced open and closed surfaces. Viewed from various angles the outer shade shows both symmetric and almost deconstructivist asymmetric appearance. Crinolina is made from textile covered PVC and Epoxy Powdercoated steel and comes in a variation of three colors ( antracite, white and a deep purple) always in combination with a golden reflective foil for a warm and ambient light. The lamps will be available with both Halogen and energy saving bulbs .

    Armani/Dada

    POST A COMMENT

The Armani Group and the Molteni Group announce the formation of a joint partnership for the future production and distribution of kitchen systems under the brand name “Armani/Dada”. The “Bridge” kitchen system was the first Armani kitchen concept to be produced by Dada, the result of a long term collaboration that now envisages the development of additional systems for both the residential and contract sectors.

Milan, 15th December 2008 – The Armani Group and Molteni Group announce the formation of a joint partnership for the future production and distribution of kitchen systems. This collaboration will result in a new line Armani/Dada.

Armani/Casa was launched in 2000 as an ad hoc division perfectly attuned to the other "worlds" within the Group, providing a platform for Giorgio Armani to transmit and establish his vision in the home environment: creating an intimate and individual ambience, simultaneously sophisticated and comfortable.
Dada, a company within the Molteni Group, has been developing and producing furnishing systems for the contemporary kitchen environment since 1980, always achieving a very high aesthetic and functional level.

Giorgio Armani, President and Chief Executive Officer of Giorgio Armani SpA, observes: “I am delighted to have such a well established new partner as Dada backed up by the Molteni Group, to develop and produce kitchens in the perfect Armani style. The original Bridge model has already delivered excellent results, in prestigious private homes and now in the Armani Residences in Dubai.”

Carlo Molteni, President of the Molteni Group, responds: “It is with great pleasure that we announce this partnership with the Armani Group. The excellence and total perfection that we have admired for so long in the Armani style will definitely present us with a challenging reference point for the development of new models.”

Design and comfort, elegance and functionality. These are the key words that define the Armani/Dada collection, which will be expanded to include new products as from the Salone del Mobile 2009, where the second kitchen system will be introduced – alongside “Bridge”, which has already found commercial success throughout the world.

The projects handled by Contract Armani/Dada include the development of kitchen systems for 144 exclusive Armani Residences within the Burj Dubai, the tallest building in the world, now under construction in Dubai. Armani/Dada kitchens also feature on the 57th floor of the Federation Tower in Moscow which, at 340 metres high, will be the tallest tower in Europe, now under construction near the Kremlin square.
Armani/Dada Systems will be available from single brand Armani/Casa outlets as well as the most appropriate concept stores belonging to the Molteni Group.
This collaboration between Armani/Casa and Dada has a cosmopolitan mission. To bring the simplicity and elegance of true Italian style to the whole world.

    Freewheeler

    POST A COMMENT

Created in collaboration with designer Ron Arad, Freewheeler is a cordless stereo speaker wheel that can be rolled around, indoors or outside. Made of high-quality lacquered wood, it has the unique quality of generating a high quality stereo sound from one component instead of the usual two separate elements. With its own built-in receiver and amplifier, all you need is a CD player, your favorite music and away you roll! The sound signal is conveyed directly from the CD player to the speaker by a two-way FM transmitter. A receiver inside the wheel picks up the signal, filters and divides it into two stereo channels and then sends the two signals to a battery-run internal amplifier. The signals are then sent in opposite directions to two multi-directional coaxial speakers. This produces two separate sets of sound waves which in turn create the stereo effect. Available in NAC Orange or Cool White, it can also be made to order in any colour.

Meridian Introduces World's First Ten Megapixel Projection System

    POST A COMMENT

For over ten years, leading UK-based luxury home entertainment manufacturer Meridian Audio Ltd has been developing and manufacturing award-winning video products - from DVD players to projectors - that, together with the company's advanced digital audio components, create the Meridian Digital Theatre, offering the highest quality reproduction of both image and sound.

Now, Meridian takes the next step towards perfecting the home viewing experience with the introduction of the Meridian 810 Reference Video System. The 810 system comprises two primary elements: the 810 Reference Video Projector, an entirely new D-ILA-based digital projector offering a previously impossible 10 megapixels - exceeding the resolution even of commercial digital cinema projectors - and the 810 Reference Video Scaler, a special processor designed to optimize the imaging of HD and standard resolution inputs for the vast new possibilities offered by a 10 megapixel projection environment. The result is a system that, Meridian believes, represents the most realistic home theater performance in the world.

Using a brand new light engine, the Meridian 810 Reference Video Projector offers an effective resolution of 4096 x 2400 pixels, or 10 megapixels. In comparison, a conventional HDTV image at 1080i represents just 1 megapixel, while full-spec HD (1080p) is still only twice that. The Meridian 810 Reference Video Projector also has extremely high light output capability. Powered by a PKI Xenon lamp, it is capable of delivering up to 4000 lumens, enough to light even the very largest screens to the Hollywood reference level of 16 foot-lamberts. In addition, the projector has a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1, ensuring that even in the most difficult scenes, such as those combining bright light and shadow, detail is never lost. Trained staff at Meridian's state-of-the-art headquarters near Cambridge, UK, individually calibrate each projector in a procedure that takes over four days to complete.

To display an image with a resolution of 10 megapixels requires some very special scaling. To meet this requirement, Meridian has developed the 810 Reference Video Scaler. A brand new design, featuring Marvell's powerful, award-winning, Qdeo
video processing technology, the scaler converts any digital source (480i to 1080p) up to full 10 megapixel resolution. Its quiet and natural video processing produces images that are free from noise and devoid of artifacts whether operating in 4:3, 16:9 or 2.35:1 modes.

The Meridian 810 Reference Video System will be available as a package consisting of both projector and scaler, which will not be available separately. Four different packages will be available, featuring lens systems with differing throw lengths. Short, Medium and Long-Throw packages will include a special motorized 2.35:1 (Cinemascope®) lens assembly, while a Very Short Throw package, designed for back-projection and simulator applications, will also be available. All four packages will be the same price: US$185,000 (US retail).

The Meridian 810 Reference Video System is expected to begin shipping in limited quantities by the end of Q3, 2008, with full availability before the end of the year.

With the Gentry Eagle, the world’s fastest yacht, as his canvas, Mugler will bring to life his creative visions alongside Weyves Yachts interior designer Eva Cadio to design the quintessential bespoke yacht.

Presently on the market for sale through Weyves Yachts, its exclusive broker, the yacht’s fusion of speed and power with absolute opulence will make this vessel a truly unique possession for any owner to have in their fleet and one of the most highly desirable vessels to exist on the seas.

The Gentry Eagle was engineered and built by racing legend Tom Gentry who went on to set nearly every powerboat speed record. This monumental vessel shattered the transatlantic crossing record in 1989 completing the journey from Ambrose Lighthouse at the entrance to New York Harbour to Bishop Rock on England's Isles of Scilly 62 hours & 7 minutes. In his victory, Tom, along with Norman Gentry, took the Blue Ribbon away from the British airline and music tycoon Richard Branson of Virgin.

The vessel has an impressive 11,500 horsepower and a top speed of 73 mph. She measures 112' in length and is fitted with twin 3,480 horsepower MTU turbo diesels coupled with a 4,500 horsepower turbine combined to propel her to over 63 knots (70+ mph). Fuel capacity is 9,800 gallons with a cruising range of 1,500 nautical miles.

The matchmaking of Gentry Eagle and Thierry Mugler is one of several design projects to come from the Weyves Couture. Weyves has partnered with Agent de Luxe president and former president of 25 years for Jean Paul Gaultier, Donald Potard, who represents more than 80 of the world’s leading fashion and interior designers.

    POST A COMMENT

Superhero has become an unavoidable term recently in the fashion world. The Metropolitan Museum of New York devoted an exhibition to these American emblematic comic strip characters and a lot of designers seemed to have been inspired by them for their latest collections.

Prestigium.com, has created thirty-two animated fashion plates, recreating the fantastic, playful universe of superheroes.

    Focus on
extravagant designs for men and women by Yves Saint Laurent, Bernhard Wilhelm, Viktor & Rolf, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Etro… all reminders of our favourite characters to be rediscovered as fashion, underlining the creativity of these contemporary designers.
