What is Your Family Planning This Summer?

Is it ever too early to start thinking about summertime plans?

For many families, summer is a time of the year to get away from it all. Whether this means school, work, holidays or other things, all families need a break.

With that in mind, what is your family planning this summer?

From Vacations to Camp, Make it Fun

So that your family has the best chance to make it a fun summer, keep these ideas in mind:

  1. Vacation – One or more family summer vacations gives all something to look forward to. Whether this is a trip to the beach, mountains, a theme park, sporting events, there is a lot you can pack into a family trip. While the adults have to make the final decision, be sure to let the children have their two cents. The last thing you want is an unhappy child or children along for the ride.
  2. Camp – What child doesn’t like going to camp? Sure, the initial thought of being away from home for a week or more can be a little much for some kids. That said summer camps have countless benefits for young ones and even the adults in the house too. If thinking about a Denver summer camp or anywhere, don’t wait until the last minute to plan things out. Given the popularity of summer camps, you don’t your child being on the outside looking in. Along with word-of-mouth from other parents, use the web for some summer camp ideas. The Internet has much camp info not only from the camps themselves, but also on social media etc.
  3. Staycations – As great as vacations can be, what about staying home much of the summer? Chances are there is a lot to do right around your area. From local parks and nature trails to pools and more, your children may not have to go far to find summer fun. You may also view a staycation as a chance to save a little bit of money. Of most importance, once again get some input from your children.
  4. Family reunions – If you come from a big family, there’s a good chance you do not get to see everyone all that often. With that in mind, think about scheduling a family reunion. Summer can be a good time for this since the kids are out of school. Yes, while many families are planning vacations and more, could the reunion can be a part of that vacation? Get consensus from siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins if this is of interest.

Creating Memories to Last a Lifetime

No matter the fun summer plans your group comes up with, be sure to record those memories.

While pictures from your phone will likely be your first choice, you might also want to shoot some video.

For the kids, ask them if they have interest in putting together a scrapbook of what they did over the summer.

Last; start thinking about next summer already.

Depending on what you will do this year, you might come up with something different for the summer after.

No matter your plans, make sure your family gets the most out of summertime.

Remember, summer goes too fast not to enjoy it.
